The Parentals Visit!

My parents visited this past week and it was absolutely great. They flew into Portland first and visited with Sarah and then took the bus up to Seattle. They were on their own mostly for the first three days because Andrew and I had to work. They went on the Boeing Tour up in Everett and then took the Victoria Clipper to the San Juan Islands for a whale tour and visited Friday Harbor. We introduced them to the game of Penny Arcade, ate great food including sushi, Thai, Teddy's burgers, cupcakes and homemade creme brulee, hiked Rattlesnake Mountain, did a little shopping, took the $1 Redhook Brewery Tour, saw The Dark Knight Rises, and I took mom for her first facial as a birthday gift. Unfortunately Andrew wasn't able to take any time off, but he was able to duck out early a few days to hang out with us. We managed to avoid the record breaking heat that they got to experience during their last visit and had just about perfect weather.

Baby Room Beginnings

We got our crib last weekend from some friends and my parents came in town this weekend, so the pressure was on to get this in order.

BEFORE: The room started off as a grey/purple. We ripped out the old trim and had some wall patching to do. (We have now officially replaced all the trim in the entire house.)

Andrew wanted vibrant colors and I struggle with making a color decision so we ended up with two, blue and green.

AFTER: I traded out the purple guest sheets for blue ones that went along with the room. Luckily I had already purchased grey curtains and comforter, so I didn't need to sweat coordinating those. The furniture is back in place and all the baby stuff is "neatly" hidden in the closet.

Now that the rearranging and major overhaul of the room is done we I can work on the decorating details.

Andrew's 27!

Chris and Bryant flew in for the weekend to surprise Andrew for his birthday. We had dinner and drinks at Black Bottle in Bellevue on Thursday, ate sushi for lunch Friday without Andrew, went out in downtown Seattle Friday to our favorite happy hour at Noc Noc, had a pretty chill Saturday and then went to Gas Works Park, Pike's Market and played at Gameworks Sunday before taking Chris and Bryant to the airport. It was a GREAT weekend!

... And now to recover.
