8 Months! (with the Karas')

Oh my, it's been way too long since I've posted. I was so diligent about keeping up with weekly posts, but we've had lots of company to keep us busy this past month. Here are 2 very long posts to catch up...

Aiden is 8 months old! He is not too shy, crawling FAST, standing on his own, shuffling around the furniture, loves chasing kitties, eats lots of food (on his own and from a spoon sometimes), is skeptical of grass, loves daycare, has 5 teeth, babbles and HATES diaper changing and hats.

I got a real haircut for the first time in a very long while (thanks to Laura's recommendation).
Andrew and Aiden are working on "reach and pulls" in swim class.
My parents visited for about 9 days and we had a great time. Aiden didn't go to daycare that week, so he got to spend tons of quality time with his MeMe and DziaDzia.

Aiden got a sweet set of wheels (an early first bday present), that he loves.
And of course, we also made good use of the box.
 Playing at the park...
We went up to Woodinville for Teddy's Burgers and World Market.
MeMe and DziaDzia took Aiden on a long walk to Redmond Town Center and down the Sammamish River Trail. It definitely tuckered him out.
Andrew and I had a date night. We went to Black Bottle because it's 21 and over only. I had a Moscow Mule for the first time... and it was delicious! We also ate wild boar ribs, pear and gorgonzola flatbread, and pomegranate blue cheese butter lettuce salad.

MeMe and DziaDzia joined us at swim class on Saturday
Saturday we went to the Brewery Festival at Marymoor Park. Aiden lounged around in his stroller. It was hot (hot for Seattle)!
You only get to play on the table when grandparents are in town.

My parents left late on a Sunday night and after 5 days of work, our next visitors arrived... by boat after their Alaskan Cruise. Tracy, Sherri, Papaw and Karen stayed in Seattle 4 extra days to visit with us.

We had a play date with Harper and Elise.
Eating turkey.
We've given Aiden lots of food to try. So far he doesn't show much dislike for anything and we usually give it to him whole to play with/gnaw/feed himself. We don't really get any funny faces the first time he tries something. It's mostly just FEED ME! He has not decreased his milk intake much up to this point, but added food about 3x's/day. At daycare we send mostly mashed foods but at home we feed him what we eat, lots of broccoli, carrots, asparagus, green beans, sweet potato, chicken, ribs, halibut, strawberries, banana, watermelon, oranges, and pickles most recently.

8 Months! (with the Hamptons)

My parents left late on a Sunday night and after 5 days of work, our next visitors arrived... by boat after their Alaskan Cruise. Tracy, Sherri, Papaw and Karen stayed in Seattle 4 extra days to visit with us.

Enjoying some tasty watermelon and helping his granny in the kitchen...
Eating rib, halibut and potatoes...
Making faces with papaw...
Going for a walk...

Aiden got to add several more miles to his car.

Family pictures, including a "4 generations" photo...
Riding the ducks, one of my favorite Seattle tourist activities!

We got to fit in some play time with Elizabeth and Ari.
Aiden and Ari both ate strawberries for the first time.

The weather has been very warm so we've been able to use the baby pool in the front yard. We have also gone to our neighborhood pool to swim. We did not sign up for the second session of swim classes at the gym because our summer schedule is too hectic to make most of them, until the fall we will just have to practice pool skills on our own. Our goal is go at least once a week on our own.
Aiden has a funny crawl. He crawls on his left knee and right foot and it's only gotten more prominent as he's gotten better and faster.
Aiden enjoyed a pickle for the first time. I thought surely we'd get a goofy face. But he munched on it like he'd been eating them since day 1.
And of course, some baby giggles...
Day care sent home the infant room newsletter which announced that Aiden is standing on his own and we also got an incident report. This is not Aiden's first mishap, this actually #3 for him, but this is nothing new to us. He bumps his head on our wood floors daily.

In the last month we started off with a good week of sleep that deteriorated with company and rearranged sleeping situations, and then the last 3 days have also been good, but the rest has been mediocre. My definition of good is sleeping is when he sleeps from about 8pm to 8am only waking up once in between. Mediocre sleep is waking up any where from 2 to 4 times between 8 and 8.
