Indiana (Part 1)

Getting to Indiana was more challenging than we expected. As many of you already know our flight was a disaster. Our initial flight was delayed and we were going to miss our connection in Denver so both our flights were rebooked to a red-eye that night. We wound up stuck in North Carolina because of the snow storm in Indiana, we had 3 cancelled flights before finally gettting a flight to Louisville and my dad drove down to pick us up. So after 18 hours in airports and planes, a 2.5 hr drive from Louisville, and 36 hours without sleep we made it. Aiden didn't seem to have any trouble at all, but I wouldn't have either if someone pushed me around while I slept through the whole thing :)

Here's the living room as we packed for Indiana. It didn't take too long to pack because I had been making a list throughout the week. It was just a mess organizing and fitting everything into bags.
It was a great relief to finally relax once we made it to my parents. Andrew's family came over for a quick visit since his sisters hadn't met Aiden yet. Aunt Ali really wanted him to wake up and play, but he was tuckered out from his journey. My mom and Sarah were still up in Michigan for the holidays at this point, so he spent lots of quality time with Dzia Dzia.
Lauren and her mom came over the next day to meet the little guy.
We describe Aiden as a "zero to sixty" baby and he demonstrated this well...
Aiden got to meet his Great Papo and Karen.
And hung out with Connie later that day.
Charlie and Gracie couldn't have cared less about this little screaming "puppy" that was invading their space.
Moose was very nervous and not too sure we were doing our jobs right. He was a very good supervisor.
Homer tried very hard to share his toys.
Aiden spent lots of time with his Granny, Pa, Aunt Ali and Aunt Sister.
My parents came to Morgantown while my mom was home for a couple days to visit and watch the Colts game.

8 Weeks

Aiden is finding his hands and learning to suck on them. But he's still a little spastic so you can tell he gets frustrated when he gets them to his mouth but just can't seem to keep them there. He has also gone 5-6 hours between feedings at night 3 times this week. Merry Christmas to us... it probably won't last.
I've been using the Maya wrap this week to get comfortable with it before we go on our trip. Not that I will be holding him when we're home, but I figure it might be nice for the airports.
There's lots of napping with dad and a little play time without clothes when he pees on himself :)
Aiden went to the doctor this week for his 2 month appointment. We went a little early because of holiday plans. He weighed 11 lb 10 oz and was 24 inches long. He was suppose to get two shots but sadly there's a nationwide shortage (probably until March) of one shot that was a combination of 3 vaccines so he had to get poked 4 times. It was pretty sad but the nurse was super quick and we went prepared with a bottle of pumped milk and gave it to him immediately after the shots. He cried for maybe 30 seconds. The worst was actually once we got home and he woke up. He was inconsolable, so we gave him some infant Tylenol for his probably very sore little legs and then he napped very soundly.
Andrew had a bacon Christmas donut and I had a chocolate yeast donut from Sunrise Donuts and Espresso. Delicious! (Much better than Top Pot Donuts in my opinion)
Elly's learning to share laps with a baby.
We celebrated Christmas just a little early so we could enjoy our gifts before heading home on Christmas day. Andrew and I each bought and wrapped a few gifts for Aiden separately so there would be a little more surprise when opening his gifts for him. I thought it was fun and we'll probably do it again next year. Of course Aiden slept through the whole thing which was fine by us. It gave us more time to enjoy our gifts.
And of course a few videos of his activities this week... )
(As I upload and go through videos, I've found it's a fun game to guess what HGTV show I was watching at the time since that's all ever I seem to have on TV.

7 Weeks

We visited Team Awesome again on Friday. It had been a week full of cranky fussiness so I thought maybe a change of scenery and faces might help end the week on a high note.
Henry captured the many faces of Aiden.
Andrew being clobbered by a cat AND a baby is becoming a more frequent sight in our house. At least they relinquished one hand for him to use while he was confined to the couch.
Lounging on the couch enjoying Andrew's new Surface together.
We spent Sunday with Tom and Emily since this is the last time we will all be able to see them until after the new year. Aiden and I also ventured to Tom and Emily's on Tuesday to hang out with Emily on her day off. Unfortunately, I didn't document that field trip... fail.
Pictures with mom... we don't get too many of these since I'm often home by myself or the one taking the pictures.
Making a turtle face just like his turtle ornament... (thanks granny)
Getting swaddled is the absolute worst! But necessary for everyone's sanity.
And a few videos...

Don't be too deceived by the mostly pleasant pictures. Many of them were taken in a 3 day window when he was a happy baby. The earlier part of the week was a little hectic. Aiden's been very awake and alert during the day which is cool but also leads to lots of fussy phases. He's just not sure what to do with himself all the time (and sometimes neither am I). Andrew and I have somewhat of a nighttime routine figured out, and most of the time Aiden goes with it. Typically there's a feeding between 9 and 11, after this feeding I will go to bed. Andrew will go to bed in Aiden's room with him until the next feeding about 3 to 4 hours later. Then Andrew and I will swap rooms and I will sleep in Aiden's room the rest of the night, until around 11am. He's gone 5 hours between feedings a couple times this week which has been a pleasant surprise.
