5 Months!

At 4 months I didn't feel like time was flying, but 5 months definitely snuck up on us. It probably has to do with being back at work. Aiden is doing very well at daycare, we are feeling really good about it, and pumping at work has been a success. We've certainly been extra tired but slowly adjusting. With our Indiana trip, work and daycare it's been way to long since we've seen some of our friends, so we spent lots of time catching up with people this weekend.

The weather has been gorgeous, so Nina came over for a walk Friday afternoon.
We went to visit Henry and Kathryn at Max and Ozzy's house.

James and Whitney came over to meet Aiden, the drool monster, Saturday night. He was happy all the way up to bedtime and then fell asleep with maybe only a minute or two of fussing, so we able to play an uninterrupted game of Ticket to Ride. Success!
And Sunday morning we had brunch with Debbie and Gabe.

Aiden got a big kale leaf in the garden from Gabe and tried munching on it.
Aiden's in his Sunday's best for Easter with the bunny from his grandparents.
Unfortunately, Andrew started to feel not so good Sunday, so a very tired baby and daddy snuggled up in the rocking chair for a nap together.

A Mamas' Road Trip and Other Random Happenings

Two other mamas (from our birth class) and I rented a mini van and took our three babies to Lake Chelan this weekend. There's was lots of chatting, a walk by the lake and great food... taco salad, spinach artichoke stuffed chicken and grain free pancakes with bacon and eggs. It was an adventure!
We got to see 5 deer in our backyard this week. Deer around our house is not unusual,
but 5 is a record for us.
Aiden loves his new monster jammies that showed up in the mail from Rachael.
He is constantly rolling over now and spent one afternoon rolling all
over the floor with this giant worm.

He's learned that daddy's ears make good handles.
He just can't get enough bath time!
Aiden's second tooth poke through this week and we've had a much happier baby every since. We could stand for a break from teething for a while. Now we just need to get sleep back under control. He's been waking up every 3 to 4 hours at night which just isn't working for anyone.

Bring On Daycare, Goodbye Swaddling!

Aiden is trying very hard to be sure we aren't at all sad about taking him to daycare this week. He began waking up every two to three hours at night last week and continued into the beginning of this week. He is inconsolable throughout the night, whereas before he would go right back to sleep after eating. It is unbearable to go back to that kind of sleep deprivation. There are several factors that could be contributing to his new routine, or maybe it's not a single one, just some little thing in his brain changed. He also began rolling over (back to tummy) repeatedly so we said goodbye to the swaddle, cold turkey (This was scary, we loved swaddling). I'm back at work but Andrew still had the first three days of the week off. We planned to ease Aiden into daycare throughout the week so he went 3 hours on Monday and a little longer each day. Thursday and Friday Andrew and I were both at work, Andrew would drop him off and I would pick him up. With his current routine and new found strength for fighting sleep we were okay letting someone else wrangle him for a while. I was completely exhausted.  I don't think Andrew was quite as tired, but he would stay up late researching and reading to try and figure out what to do about this little monster's sleep (I say monster with love). We've also said adios to the binky.

He gets a bath almost daily since daycare has started, just to fight as many of the germs as we can.
Telling his dad all about his day.
 Practicing sitting up with mom.
I couldn't pass up this $5 consignment store find. It goes great with our retro game baby room theme, plus it's practical and useful now... for Andrew and I :P
I had my 27th birthday on Wednesday, oh yeah! I had a desk full of goodies at work, Aiden got me a necklace (that "he" really wanted to give to me early) and Andrew got me personal training sessions. It's been a great whirlwind of a year! (To think this time last year you could barely tell I was pregnant and I was puking daily.)
You can see his lone bottom tooth when he laughs.
Aiden is getting great reports from daycare during his first week.
He's modeling some of his new clothes, but this face tells me he's not too sure about this outfit.
We went and saw Cirque Du Soleil with Tom and Emily this weekend. It was AMAZING! Even having seen their show in Vegas, this was still equally impressive. Aiden went to daycare at the Pro Club. Him and his dad got a good nap in before their big adventures that day.
"I can do it, but I won't be happy about it."
He found his toes!
Screechy baby!

Back to Work and I Kinda Like It

Aiden had his 4 month appointment on Monday he weighed 14.5 lb and measured 25.75 inches. We had to deal with the same 4 miserable shots he got at his last appointment, but I think it went over better this time. We still fed him right afterwards, which worked wonderfully, but this time we also gave him Tylenol before going. We walked out of the office with a smiling baby.

Aiden was very happy to get home from vacation and get in some good snuggle time with his dad.

Aiden tried solids for the first time this week. He had avacado and sweet potato. They went over fine, meaning not all of it was spit back out. At this point food is not suppose to be replacing any of his regular bottles or feedings, this is just to start introducing him to foods so he can practice.

Zoey has found a new bed she is very happy with.
We had a play date (really it's a parent date at this point) with Kathryn and Max.
Hanging out on daddy's shoulders... the higher the better for this little one!
We went careening around the house in his stroller because it was raining outside. You can see he was holding on for dear life.
In much bigger news, I went back to work this week. Andrew took the week off with Aiden so I could start work with a little less stress. I went back on a Tuesday so I didn't jump right into a full week. Aiden slept poorly the last half of the week but, everything considered, the week went very well. I am happy to be back at work and really not upset about leaving Aiden (we'll see how next week goes once daycare starts). But who wouldn't enjoy going back to work with Team Awesome and getting rock-paper-scissor-lizard-Spock dice (a Kickstarter goody from my boss) on my first day back.
I came home to a very happy baby who quickly fell asleep on my shoulder.
Andrew and Aiden came to work and had lunch with me. Aiden got to see Laura and Felix.
Aiden has something to say but he just can't quite spit the words out.
I think the concern going back to work this week was pumping. It's not stressful or challenging for me to pump at work (and I am so grateful) I am just not able to pump quite as much as he's eating. I have been pumping and freezing for a while so we have back up milk, and my supply should adjust to pumping and pick back up. For now I just have to remember (and Andrew often reminds me) that this was expected, to be patient and don't stress over it.
