7 Weeks

We visited Team Awesome again on Friday. It had been a week full of cranky fussiness so I thought maybe a change of scenery and faces might help end the week on a high note.
Henry captured the many faces of Aiden.
Andrew being clobbered by a cat AND a baby is becoming a more frequent sight in our house. At least they relinquished one hand for him to use while he was confined to the couch.
Lounging on the couch enjoying Andrew's new Surface together.
We spent Sunday with Tom and Emily since this is the last time we will all be able to see them until after the new year. Aiden and I also ventured to Tom and Emily's on Tuesday to hang out with Emily on her day off. Unfortunately, I didn't document that field trip... fail.
Pictures with mom... we don't get too many of these since I'm often home by myself or the one taking the pictures.
Making a turtle face just like his turtle ornament... (thanks granny)
Getting swaddled is the absolute worst! But necessary for everyone's sanity.
And a few videos...

Don't be too deceived by the mostly pleasant pictures. Many of them were taken in a 3 day window when he was a happy baby. The earlier part of the week was a little hectic. Aiden's been very awake and alert during the day which is cool but also leads to lots of fussy phases. He's just not sure what to do with himself all the time (and sometimes neither am I). Andrew and I have somewhat of a nighttime routine figured out, and most of the time Aiden goes with it. Typically there's a feeding between 9 and 11, after this feeding I will go to bed. Andrew will go to bed in Aiden's room with him until the next feeding about 3 to 4 hours later. Then Andrew and I will swap rooms and I will sleep in Aiden's room the rest of the night, until around 11am. He's gone 5 hours between feedings a couple times this week which has been a pleasant surprise.

6 Weeks

A little switch flipped in Aiden's head this week and all the sudden he is "talking" and smiling at us regularly. It started Thursday evening after he finished eating. Andrew was doing a little work from home and I was sitting next to him. I propped Aiden up in my lap to entertain him while he was alert and content except this time he did his own entertaining. He started smiling over and over at us and when I would talk to him you could see him focus and then he'd start to move his little mouth and made all kinds of happy cooing noises. It's great! The past weeks his noises had been a warning to us that at any minute he might blow up. He also went 5 hours between feedings one night this past weekend, yay progress (let's hope it lasts)! Aiden has his one month appointment this week (a little behind schedule because his doctor was sick). He is now 11 lb and 23 inches long. He is definitely getting plenty to eat.

Aiden's feet don't touch the floor and he's s a little wobbly in this bouncer, but in an effort to keep him happy while awake one evening we tried it. He seemed to enjoy it for about 10 minutes before you could tell he was getting tired. Holding himself up in any way is hard work!

Tom and Emily have visited us several times in the last few weeks, but I had yet to get a picture of Tom and Aiden. Here it is finally. And (drum role please) after years of effort trying to befriend our cats, Tom also got a new friend when Elly decided to climb up and sleep in his lap.

We celebrated Ninja Givingristmawanzikkah this weekend at Debbie and Gabe's house (an excuse to eat tons of great food). Nom Nom Nom!
Clark and Jen got to meet Hacksaw for the first time :)
Of course, Nina was happy to spend as much time with the little man as she could.
Nina created a painting for each of the ninjas as holiday gifts.
Ours was inspired after she visited Aiden for the first time and we LOVE IT. It was actually the one that stood out to me when we walked in the house. It's already hanging in his room.
And Gabe held a very alert and squirmy baby. I'm not sure what they're faces are saying about each other in the first picture, but they are definitely friends in the second one. :)

5 Weeks

There has been a lot of this lately. But we think it just comes with the territory
as Aiden is becoming more alert.
As a solution there've been lots of walks... rain, dark or cold.
It seems to be the magic trick (for now).

After a weekend of trying to catch up on some sleep, Aiden threw us a curve ball Sunday night and decided to cluster feed and not sleep much. He's probably headed into a growth spurt. Recently, he had been going about 4 hours between feedings at night and 3 hours during the day. Now we're back to 2 hours with a 3 or 4 hour run here and there. Hopefully this is a short lived change.

There's been a lot of spitting up this week, so we are constantly "wearing baby".

Aiden's been spending tummy time with Andrew and working those leg and neck muscles.

I took Aiden to my office to meet Mike and a few others from my department this week :)

I also took Aiden to visit Andrew at work, but there weren't too many willing participants among all the single guys when it came to holding him. He did however impress many of them with his custom made Halo 4 onesie (thanks to the Crayola airbrush toy).
Changing table, bed or torture device? It depends on who you ask.
The cats are starting to come around. They don't seem to mind the screaming too much anymore. In fact, Zoey has started to claim many of Aiden's things as her own.
And another video, in case three wasn't enough for you.
